Monkey island telltale games review

For example, at one point, you need to gather objects for a spell by deciphering a riddle then use your wits and your inventory to acquire the right ingredients. Other puzzles rely on dialogue, like Guybrush's attempt to help a lonely creature woo its mate using only a handful of lines from a travel phrasebook.

Tales of Monkey Island crafts these puzzles in a variety of clever ways, and though you will notice that some quest structures are repeated, this repetition is not frequent enough to feel stale. Solutions are generally pretty easy to figure out, though some of the more obtuse ones can be quite tricky. Usually, you can talk to folks and explore the limited area to gather clues, but if you get really stuck, just bump up the hint frequency and Guybrush will chime in with a helpful observation.

Two lady corsairs fighting over Guybrush? Say it is so! Throughout the course of five episodes, you travel to many different parts of the Caribbean and beyond! You make first landfall in a small town with a pirate court, an exclusive nightclub, a mad scientist's house, and the Blow Me Down Glassworks. While this first episode feels a bit slow compared to subsequent episodes, you soon venture out into and under the sea, visiting a number of other islands, including the seat of government for an underwater society.

And the title of episode three, Lair of the Leviathan, gives you a pretty big clue as to its unique setting. It's fun to travel through the quirky, colorful environments, and revisiting places you've been in previous episodes gives a nice sense of continuity. The cartoony visual style contributes to the game's lighthearted mood, though you will notice some visual oddities from time to time. Tales of Monkey Island is finally back after taking a two-year hiatus away from Steam , just in time for the platform's summer sale.

This is the first time players can enjoy the entire, five-part episodic adventure since the game's original developer, Telltale Games, went under in The Monkey Island series is considered one of the pioneers of the adventure game genre. The LucasArts classic is a brainchild of the legendary game designer Tim Schafer, who created other amazing adventure games such as Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle. It made its debut in and took the video game community by storm.

For thoese who likes pirates and love homor will love this game. Unfortunately, Ron Gilbert had little to do with his creation from that point on, and Curse of Monkey Island, although good, didn't quite have the charm of the earlier iterations.

Thankfully, this a real return to form for the series. It's clever, entertaining, challenging, and most importantly of all, it's funny. Well worth your time. I expected it to be like the other TellTale Games i have played through before, but this game feels different. The 2 games mix pretty well tho. It was fun to play a Monkey Island game again with the characters that i know from my previous PlayThroughs. And the dialogue choices that are common with TellTale games, adds to the experience.

The Difficulty isn't that hard but some puzzles might have you wander around the world a lot at some parts of the playthrough. The cutscenes in this game feel more like the previous Monkey Island games than previous TellTale Games. Memory: MB 1GB rec. Graphics: 64MB DirectX 8. See all. View all. Click here to see them.
