Audi rs6 c5 manual conversion

I don't know anything about the 4. Price wise the AA kit without shipping is not much more than the handful of 01E parts I needed for my gearbox, so cheap in my opinion. So there was a 4. How about a conversion of that one then? One guy I think used a B7 box bit was changing gears a lot due to the ratios. Personally I don't think the cost and work involved with the manual conversation is worth it.

Plus the added cost of having the TCU and ECU remapped to work with a manual box there is probably only a 2 or 3 of the main tuners who could do that. There are guys building big american V8-powered dragsters who use that box, just because it's so solid. Does that box bolt straight on to the V8 or will it require an adapter plate. May 16th, , 2. Pretty ambitious schedule you've set for yourself, good luck to you! May 16th, , 3. Is this a stock 01E or has there been any strengthening occurred to it so it will handle the insane amounts of torque to be tossed at it?

May 16th, , 4. The transmission was recently rebuilt with a new 1st gear as my original one was worn , updated shift collar with updated synchros, 0. I don't plan to drive it any different than I normally do with the automatic, so I think the stock gears internals should do just fine.

May 16th, , 5. My 01E is being built to the exact specs at Steve's and I think it should do fine as long as it's not abused. I think if people start launching the car or really driving it like an idiot, there will be problems, but it can't be any worse than the ZF coming out two failures in 92K miles. The nice thing is the tall 6th gear will make highway cruising something beautiful; RPM at will be awesome.

Steve's kit is a pretty sweet setup. Check it out if you're interested - it really takes a lot of guess work out of the swap. May 17th, , 6. Good luck Steve! Remember, it's just nuts and bolts. Certainly a bucket load of cash to spend to get a manual tranny, get an Rs4 perhaps. Iv always had a thing for the RS6 C5 and I'm spending my RAF medical discharge payout on this as a treat for the daily with my new job and the good healthy wage I'm on.

If the wiring side is a sod I'll look into how reliable and costly an S4 B5 running bhp would be I no it's not in the same class but I just love the look of the B5 and C5. This subject has come up loads of times on various forums. As I understand it there are only a couple of gearbox's you can use without major modification to both the engine and gearbox. As the engine was never designed for a manual box it's not just a straight swap.

Most people seem to think that going manual will give them more options on power and torque, if you speak to the likes of Doug at MRC you'll find that there are still limitations. There aren't many gearboxes that are a close fit and designed to take massive torque.

The ECU will need to be re-coded to delete all aspects of the autobox, again not a straight forward job you can do as a one off project. Don't forget you'll need to fabricate a new pedal box. All in all it's an expensive project to undertake for the fun of it. But each to there own and i wish you good luck if you do go ahead. Have you actually had a go in one with a standard box that's been looked after? I can't imagine how anyone "can't get in with the auto box" You can drive it like a manual but most of the time I just stick it in drive and let it do it's thing, it is a lovely thing to drive.
